After 3 more days at Koh Tao we just came back tonight. Every time we go there we want to stay longer- it's such a beautiful island! Well, Erik got his diving certificate after 4 days of studying- CONGRATULATIONS! The rest of the family stayed at the very charming "Charm Churee" including Jansom bay, which is a private beach with good snorkling. See how close the fish got to the boys on the photo below. Oscar snorkles without any problem now and Victor just throws himself in the water without hesitation.
Today we rented a longtail boat and went to another beach called Thian Og, where Erik saw 0, I saw 1 and Lennart 18 Black tip sharks! Victor threw up most of what he ate today- could it be because he drank too much seawater?

Since we came back from Koh Tao, we've been basically just "chilling" by the pool or the beach. However, both Oscar and Victor made big progress in the pool since we came back. See Oscar swim in the below video without any floating support. Victor also kicks himself forward in the pool using only armbands. See also the below video on how well they play on the beach. Our relationship to sand changed significantly since we came here.. now we don't mind sand everywhere! We just came back from a 3 day trip to the snorkling and diving paradise Koh Tao. Koh Tao and Nang Yuan together form a true tropical paradise. We went there with the other swedish family that we met, so Oscar and Victor had someone to play with (and so did we). The snorkling was wonderful, where we saw lots of colourful fish and even a little Blacktip shark! Lennart went diving (see movies on Swedish blogg), I had a nice Thai massage and we had good BBQ fish on the beach. The boatride home in the Lomprayah catamaran was less pleasant as some of us got seasick... Talking about the trip the road was also adventurous, with a very bumpy road and steep hills nothing else than a 4-wheel drive could take us to the other side of the island. See Blacktip Shark to the right in the picture! Someone wrote that it seems like we are just going to the beach and trying out new restaurants. Hmm, - well I guess that is exactly what we decided to do today as well... Excursion with a chartered longtail boat to the "5 islands", famous for collecting of nests (to make "bird's nest soup") for profitable export to China, snorkling (very good) and dining at a nice restaurant in the sunset. |
